Ajmer: the next smart
city
Not just Jaipur, Rajasthan is hoping to position
at least 4-5 cities as smart cities with Ajmer being on the top of the list.
The government of Rajasthan has inked an memorandum of understanding (MOU) with
the United States Trade Development Agency (USTDA) to collaborate on Ajmer. The
Central Government has also setup a task force to examine the plans for the
city.
“Ajmer has already been declared as one of the smart cities. I believe two or more cities of Rajasthan will be included into it; Jaipur will be one of them. Possibly there can be Jodhpur and Udaipur also. I believe in coming years we will be trying to convert 4-5 cities of Rajasthan into smart cities,” said Rajpal Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Urban Development, Rajasthan.
